Guy B. Garner – Senior Attorney, Recently Retired
Guy B. Garner, III was born in Ft. Worth, Texas to Guy B. Garner, Jr., an engineer with General Dynamics, and Patricia Newman Garner, a homemaker who later in life became licensed as a speech pathologist. Guy’s parents moved to Arlington, Texas soon after Guy’s birth, and Arlington has been Guy’s hometown ever since. Guy was active in Boy Scout Troop 357, and attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was inducted into Order of the Arrow. Guy graduated from Arlington High School in 1970. He then attended Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas and graduated from Howard Payne’s honors program, the Douglas McArthur Academy of Freedom, in 1974. Upon graduation from Howard Payne College, Guy entered Baylor University’s School of Law and graduated with his J.D. degree in 1976. Guy became licensed to practice law in Texas on February 14, 1977.
After graduating from Baylor Law School, Guy returned to Arlington and went to work for longtime Arlington attorney, William “Bill” L. Bondurant in 1977. During his time working for Mr. Bondurant Guy gained a wealth of valuable experience working in many areas of the law including of banking law, civil and personal injury trial litigation, family law, forming corporations and partnerships, and real estate law. Guy decided to open his own law firm in Arlington in 1990 by forming what became Garner Law Firm, P.C. At that same time, Guy decided to begin focusing his legal work solely in the areas of Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust Administration. He joined the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys and then became a founding member of WealthCounsel, a national network and educational forum for law firms and attorneys that primarily worked in the field of estate planning, elder law, and trust administration. Guy merged his law firm with the law firm of Haiman Hogue in December 2019.
Guy is married to the former Nancy Linnea Wade. They worship at Lamar Baptist Church in Arlington, and enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, reading, and fishing. They have a rescue dog named Mona that runs the house.
