Laurie was born and raised in Dallas and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1986 with a degree in Political Science. Shortly thereafter she began law school at Southern Methodist University. On her first day of law school, she met her future husband, Jerry Ewing. After law school, she began her practice with the Collin County District Attorney’s office, where she discovered that the law can be not only a career, but a ministry.
After the birth of her second child, she and her husband decided that their family would be best served with her at home investing full time in the children. Their third child was born and Laurie stayed busy actively involved with the kids’ schools and activities, the Junior League of Dallas, and her church—Park Cities Baptist.
Once all the children were in school, Laurie returned to the practice of law, focusing on child protection, criminal defense, and juvenile matters. She sought to be the hands and feet of Christ to those who were in the most desperate circumstances. After a fulfilling 30-year litigation career, God called her to a different path—to join Haiman Hogue. Her practice now focuses in the areas of Estate Planning, Probate and Elder Law where she is helping people prepare for and work through life changes, as well as putting together plans that protect her clients, their families and their assets.
