Recipe for Success
Along the way in my eight year journey with Tea ‘n Mystery, I have learned many lessons, all of them the hard way…I can assure you! But one thing is clear…there is a TRUE recipe for success and it is true in ANY business venture that you start! Want my recipe for success? First…here are some things NOT to do….
1.GO IT ALONE
Think you are different? I did…I thought all these people who kept telling me to educate myself with reading from business leaders like John Maxwell, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, Steven Covey (who REALLY scared me…yes I admit it) just didn’t know or understand what I was about! Surely, if they did…they would understand that I was different and did not need those books to succeed. I had the desire, the innate love of dealing with the public (which in my case translated into pleasing them at all costs to myself and the business), and was a great cook who could follow any recipe out there! Except the recipe that I needed most of all….the RECIPE FOR SUCCESS!!! You must educate yourself and become the leader that you were meant to be before you can expect ANYONE to follow you or success to find you! Personal development is key to anyone’s success! Find a Mentor immediately! There are many around you that you admire…just ask them or hire a Business Coach! Barter if necessary, but this is one expense that you DO NOT FORGO or you will be sorry!!!
2. WORK IN YOUR BUSINESS RATHER THAN ON YOUR BUSINESS
If you are spending all your time, and I mean ALL your time…working IN your business, then it will suffer and YOU will suffer as you do not have any time or energy left for others, including your family. This will lead to ultimate disaster unless you recognize it early and nip it in the bud. LEVERAGE is the key here that the rich have always known about….always leverage OTHER PEOPLE’s TIME and MONEY and make it work for you! Network Marketing allows that freely…but any other business can show you this model if it is built successfully. Do NOT try to do it all…you will fail miserably and be exhausted to boot! Only hire good people that you can trust. Find ways to model your business so that you work regular hours, balance it with family and friends, ALWAYS find ways to give back to your community…even when you just get started and you will reap the benefits.
3. EXPECT BUSINESS TO COME TO YOU
Good luck with this one…ok….you have the desire, the energy, the “why” and the talent to succeed…but why aren’t you? Oh…did you forget MARKETING? It has been my experience that no matter how good your products are, no matter how people like you, no matter how YOU know you are better than your competition…if no one else knows this…then???? Marketing is something you have GOT to budget time and money for if you are to succeed! Also…read, read, and read again…educate yourself on all forms of Social Media Marketing and find someone (expert) to help you! This does not have to be EXPENSIVE but needs to be EXTENSIVE! If others can not find you…then you will fail. NETWORKING is key to this objective! You must be networking all the time for your business…or don’t worry…your competition will do it for you!
OK….GOT IT? This is my recipe for Success!
1. Read and educate yourself. Find a Mentor or Coach or both.
2. Leverage other’s people’s expertise to help you…do not try to do it all yourself. Balance your work, family, friend and community time.
3. Marketing and Networking!!!!!
I raise my glass to you today…..Here’s to YOUR SUCCESS!
